We take great pride in the professional and personal development of all our colleagues, providing both internal and external opportunities for our incredible leaders, teachers and support staff to thrive.

All staff have access to a large variety of quality assured online training programmes ranging from Equality and Diversity to GDPR, Health and Safety and supporting staff wellbeing.

The Apprenticeship Levy is used to provide training, upskilling both class and office based support staff. Examples include Accounts or Finance Assistant, HR Support, Teaching Assistant and Early Years Educator apprenticeships.

Tailored professional development opportunities are supplemented with a variety of trust wide networks such School Business Managers, Safeguarding Leaders, SENCos, EVC leaders, Special class teachers and Subject leaders.

Staff have the opportunity to apply to work across the trust in a variety of central roles. We also offer secondments to both central roles and in schools across LiHT. As a result, many of our school leaders have worked in more than one school in the trust.

Schools provide high quality evidence informed continuous professional development for all class based staff. Instructional coaching is being rolled out for all teachers as is the opportunity to work with the Chartered College of Teaching on developing teaching practice.

Leadership Development

Leadership development within the trust is underpinned by our Assessment Centre process. This process is designed to support leaders at all levels in being more aware of their strengths and areas for development against a series of leadership competencies. As well as supporting schools and individuals in identifying future needs it is also used to shape the trust wide leadership offer.

We offer a large variety of leadership networks and training opportunities.  These include-

Access to Leadership Coaching - All school leaders within the trust have access to leadership coaching.   Head Teachers and Heads of School have an individuall coach while Assistant Heads and Deputy Heads take part in regular facilitated Action Learning Sets.

Insights Profile Leadership Training - School and trust wide leaders take part in a well established programme focusing on self-awareness and leading others.

Senior Leader Network - These regular opportunities for all leaders of Assistant Head and above within the trust to work together form a key part of leadership development. The sessions are sometimes facilitated in-house but also benefit from inputs from external experts in their field.

Leadership Matters- we run facilitated leadership training for Aspiring, Middle and Senior Leaders using the Leadership Matters material.

National Professional Qualifications- Leaders at LiHT are supported in completing NPQs at the appropriate level for their development.
